Cameroon 2022 Recap

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born, I set you apart…” Jeremiah 1:5a NLT

It is hard to imagine that Serve Cameroon22 has come and gone. While my feet return home, my heart and soul remain eternally connected across the sea. From the united spirit of traveling team members to the open hearts of people in Cameroon, the hand of God was evident. Connections. Humility. Hunger. These three words pierced my heart while preparing for the conference, serving in the country, and preaching the Word.

First, connections. Had the divine connection between myself and Apostle St. Claire not been orchestrated by God in early 2022, there would be no service this year in Cameroon for Heart to Hands International. Many divine connections between civic, non-profit, and academic leaders aligned to prepare the path of ministering to young leaders seeking to make a difference in their own lives and the development of their community.

Then the humbling experience of sharing my acquired leadership knowledge with eager minds and hungry hearts pierced my soul. As the days proceeded, plans were modified. My intended night to preach was removed from the schedule - humbling. I was unable to speak to hotel staff clearly - humbling. My name appeared on a welcome banner - humbling. In every encounter, the temptation to become proud and self-promoting appeared. Yet, by the grace of God’s Holy Spirit, lessons in humility, such as hearing lunch staff call after me, “Madame, Madame!” as I returned to the conference with my skirt tucked into my slip, kept my heart pure. Humble reminders that, as stated in the youth empowerment workshop, it’s not about me.

Finally, the hunger for more extraordinary things was evident in many. Youth leaders shared their dreams for a sustainable business or justice for the impoverished. Hearts laden with the high cost of living, failing relationships, abuse, health issues, and closed doors of opportunity came hungry for hope. The hunger for more practical knowledge to move forward as leaders paled to the craving for peace with God.

I am blessed to have been part of a team with beautiful feet that proclaim the good news of hope found in the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Jesus Christ. My part is made possible by supporters of Heart to Hands International. I am eternally thankful for the existing partners in finance and prayer.
